Middle School Teacher of The Year

🐻24-25 Middle School Teacher of the Year 🐻

Congratulations to the 24-25 Middle School Teacher of the Year, Mrs.Renee Jones!

Renee Jones has been named Middle School Teacher of the Year, recognized for her passion and skill as an English teacher. Her engaging approach inspires students to develop a love for reading and writing, while fostering critical thinking and creativity. With a strong ability to connect with each student, Renee’s dedication and support make her an exceptional educator.

🖤 Mrs. Jones holds high standards for her students, and she always makes sure learning is going on in her classes.

🖤 She is dependable and shows up for work. I can tell immediately in my classes who has had Mrs. Jones for English and who has not. It shows in their work daily.

🖤 She has great character and is a fabulous teacher. My high school son will even tell you to this day that he learned more in her class than in any other class he's had. Those things he learned from her will help him through the rest of his life. I'm thankful for her investment in my son's life and my students' lives.

🖤 Our middle school hallways would be boring without Mrs. Jones, She is always displaying students' work in the halls. I've watched her haul tables out to display projects and even drag ladders around to hang projects from the ceiling.

🖤 Renee is a great classroom teacher. She is tough and firm on the one hand, and likable and dedicated to the growth of every student on the other. Our students are better able to read, write, and analyze after having had her class. She is also a creative person who has taken the idea of a "project-based learning" class and turned it into something that every school should try to emulate.

🖤 Renee does a great job of setting the tone for the kids of Wyandotte Middle School in ways many would not consider. The 7th grade is genuinely the toughest year for a multitude of students. At that grade and age level, students are at their most vulnerable, and students are also the meanest they will ever be. They are harder to control and more reliant on their peers for affirmation on "right" and "wrong" than at any age. At that age, they have Mrs. Jones where they are treated with respect but with firmness, and no student is allowed to make another student feel less about themselves in her presence. That in itself is an achievement that should make her win awards every year.

🖤 Renee Jones has the perfect blend of rigor and relevance. She teaches a tough subject and holds students to a high standard. She brings the content to a level that every student can understand. She does the same thing with her project-based learning class. She takes projects and gets students to investigate things they would never investigate in any other circumstance and deliver a project that they can be proud of.

🖤 Renee is constantly looking for more and better projects and assignments, and works well within her department to stay on the same page with vertical and horizontal alignment.

Help us congratulate our Wyandotte Middle School Teacher of the Year, Renee Jones!
