On the week of February 3-7, we are celebrating National School Counseling Week. This week is a time to recognize and celebrate the incredible work our school counselors, Lisa Woods and Tamara Bacon, do daily. They guide us through academic challenges, support our mental health, and help us prepare for the future. Their dedication makes a big difference in the lives of students and families.
Our high school principal, Matt Robertson, wanted to share words of appreciation to our counselor Mrs. Bacon. “Mrs. Tamara Bacon has had a long career in education. She has served as an English instructor, a guidance counselor, and a high school principal. The majority of her career has been at Quapaw High School, with years before that at Bluejacket, and a few years in North Carolina at the very beginning of her career. She serves part time with us, usually coming and working to check on us on Mondays and Tuesdays and then working remotely the rest of the time. Her familiarity with our student information system, state requirements, and her ability to solve problems on the transcripts and state reporting have been absolutely invaluable to us as a district. While she is not someone that is frequently seen on campus, those who know what she brings to the table can tell you that she plays a major role in the success of this district."
Our middle school principal, Jennie Butterfield, also wanted to share words of appreciation. “Ms. Lisa has been a great addition to Wyandotte Public Schools! Her office door is always open and she is welcoming to all of the students who enter. She believes in building healthy relationships with students and helping them reach their goals!”
We are so grateful for everything our counselors do to help us succeed and grow. Happy National School Counseling Week!
