Wyandotte Alumni Appreciation

Brant Clapp has become an inspiring figure in the Wyandotte community, embodying dedication and a deep-rooted commitment to giving back. His journey from a standout high school athlete to a devoted father, EMT, official, substitute teacher, and now a local entrepreneur reflects the pride he takes in everything he does. Known for his unwavering work ethic and heart for service, Brant’s influence on Wyandotte has only grown since his days on the football field.

Coach Robertson shared, “I had the opportunity to coach Brant when he was in school and I've always admired the pride he takes in whatever it is he's doing. He played safety and absolutely knew how to crash the alleys as a run stopper and he was an absolute headhunter. As an adult, I watch the pride he takes in being a dad, an official, an EMT, and around here, he gives back by serving as a substitute teacher. He finds ways to contribute in whatever it is he's doing. He recently started a crappie jig business called Clapp's Custom Crappie Jigs. He does great work. When we recently had a fishing derby with our student population, we reached out to buy some of his products to give out as rewards for winning the derby. He refused to let us buy them and wanted to donate instead, in spite of our protests. It meant a lot to him to be able to give back and it should mean a lot to potential customers that he's the type of guy who would do that. Community members like Brant are a big reason why this is the best place in the world to be!.”

Brant recently launched Clapp’s Custom Crappie Jigs, a business built around his passion for fishing. True to his character, Brant’s connection to the community came full circle during a school fishing derby. Organizers approached him to purchase jigs for prizes, but Brant insisted on donating his products.

For Wyandotte, having community members like Brant, who continuously find ways to support and uplift others, is invaluable. People like him are a big part of what makes Wyandotte the community it is.
