👩🏫🏆Congratulations to our 23-24 District teacher of the year!🏆👩🏫
The District Teacher of the Year is chosen from the three “Teachers of the Year” from the three sites. The committee deliberates and considers each of the three and then votes on which is to be the overall District Teacher of the Year. Our District Teacher of the Year for 2023/2024 is Mrs. Hannah Young.
While readers can see the previous post on Hannah Young as High School Teacher of the Year, we wanted to still be able to let readers see some of the things that students, parents, and staff had to say about Hannah Young as a teacher.
One of the parents of a Wyandotte student had this to say:
“Genuine and compassionate are words that come to mind when I think of Mrs. Hannah Young. Though fairly new to our school district, she has quickly established herself as one of the top educators at Wyandotte. "Cream of the Crop" as I like to call them!
My child has been fortunate to have her as an AP Chemistry teacher this year. She has greatly prepared him for science at a college level and done so in a manner that motivates and excites him to do better and learn more. She is gifted with a teaching style that challenges her students to think, investigate, and learn.
She is always friendly and approachable. I've never seen her without a smile on her face. It's quite obvious that she is highly respected by her students as well as her peers. It's crucial in today's world for public schools to have good science teachers and Wyandotte has found a Great One!” —Kelli Fent
Previous Teachers of the Year Judd Eidson, Samantha Young and Marsha Hampton were asked about Hannah Young and here’s what they had to say:
“Hannah Young is such a wonderful example for the students at Wyandotte High School. She comes to school every day with a smile on her face. She goes the extra mile to ensure ALL her kids learn in her classroom. Wyandotte High is fortunate to have such a great example for our kids!!” —Judd Eidson
“Hannah Young is an exceptional educator who challenges her students with innovative teaching methods. Her students speak highly of her, greatly respecting and admiring her as their teacher. As a fellow educator, I appreciate Ms. Young's positive attitude, willingness to work, and unwavering dedication to her students. She encourages them to reach new heights, and they do. I have also observed her interaction with faculty and staff and can attest to her friendly and always pleasant demeanor. Hannah is a team player who deserves recognition for her outstanding efforts as a dedicated and conscientious teacher. Hannah Young deserves to be the Wyandotte Teacher of the Year, as she is the epitome of an excellent educator.” —Marsha Hampton
“In all my classes students talk about Mrs. Hannah Young and the classes she teaches in such a positive manner. I love that she is bringing so many hands-on activities to students, they are loving it! Her passion for science is shining through and we are so fortunate to have her at Wyandotte!” —Samantha Young
One of our AP Chemistry students had this to say:
“Mrs. Young is my AP Chemistry teacher. My class is first hour and Mrs. Young is always super energetic even if it is 8 am. She is very good at positively presenting material and always encourages us that we can complete any assignment that comes our way. She is very good at creating a relationship with each one of her students and has even invited my class to dinners at her home. If I had to describe Mrs. Young I would say she is a fun-loving, energetic teacher that makes AP Chemistry exciting!” —Jace Fent
