🏆👩🏫Congratulations to the 23-24 Educational Support Staff Member of the Year!👩🏫🏆
The Wyandotte Public Schools Educational Support Staff Member of the Year is Amanda Murry. Mrs. Murry serves in the middle school and high school building in the special education department. She is a hard worker and genuine member of our support staff who was nominated by her peers and voted on by committee. Here’s what some of those who nominated her had to say about her:
Last year, my first year at Wyandotte, Amanda took me under her wing and taught me everything there was to know about being a para. I really had no idea what all the job responsibilities were but knew I wanted to be in the school. She gave me the basic rundown of "you are here to help the kids that struggle in class." Easy enough, right? NO!! There is so much more to her day than that. Getting pulled in different directions, covering for this teacher, subbing on that hour....it goes on and on. Her day is never "normal" or the same as the day before.
As a first year teacher, she has helped me tremendously. She is another set of eyes on a classroom full of struggling students. She is a voice of reason when you think you can't keep going because you are so overwhelmed you don't know what day it is. She is the familiar face to kids who need the extra help in the room. She is the one who covers you if you need to step into the hall and take a breather or deal with an emotional student. Amanda is the one to keep the peace in a class of arguing teens. If it weren't for her in one of my classes, there is NO WAY I could be successful in it. She has my back and helps the students whenever needed! I am so thankful to call her a co-worker and a friend!
Like all of us, Mrs. Murry has challenges that she faces daily. No matter the setback or struggle any day, she comes here, ready to work with students in the classroom.
Help us congratulate our Educational Support Staff Member of the Year, Mrs. Amanda Murry!
