2022/2023 Wyandotte Elementary Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Ashley Baldwin

We would like to congratulate our 2022/2023 Elementary Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Ashley Baldwin. Mrs. Baldwin’s first two years of teaching were with McDonald County school district where she received the Golden Apple Teacher Award in 2012.  She joined the Wyandotte Public School district in 2013 as a fifth grade teacher and has been impacting the lives of our fifth grade students since. Mrs. Baldwin was also named DARE Educator of the Year for 2018. This award came with a recognition ceremony and a variety of other incentives.

There were a whole lot of fantastic nominations to look through and discuss with our Teacher of the Year committee, but the sheer volume of nominations for Mrs. Baldwin and our own appreciation of her top notch teaching and service to the district seems to have swayed the members as the voting process is still anonymous.  Here are some examples of things said about Mrs. Baldwin in the nomination process:

  • I’ve watched her first hand, work diligently to build a relationship with each of her students. She uses that relationship to make her students feel comfortable, making them feel more love & confidence in their learning and basic day to day well being.

  • I will never forget the first time I met Ashley, she was answering a question about what should/shouldn’t be allowed for the new school year in regards to allowing parents to walk kids to their class on the first day of school and her response was “That is someone’s baby. Let them do it!”

  • Ashley works well with others, is creative in creating the best learning environment in her classroom, and develops relationships with her students and peers.

  • Ashley goes above and beyond to create a learning atmosphere that is optimal for all of her students.

  • Strengths: her ability to focus on her students and know their needs, weaknesses and strengths without them having to tell her.

Mrs. Baldwin has been a Bear for several years now and has not just shown what it is like to be a good teacher, but a great teacher. We are so proud of all she has accomplished as a teacher and we thank her for all her hard work and dedication!
